YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Youth Development Committee (YDC) is a professionally supported, youth-led advocacy group established by the Gippsland Youth Spaces Inc. (GYS Inc.) Board. Its primary purpose is to represent the voice of young people across Gippsland, advocating on behalf of youth to all levels of government, corporate partners, community organisations, and stakeholders.

While continuing to provide valuable input into program design and consultancy for GYS Inc. activities, the YDC’s focus is on:

• Youth advocacy and representation – ensuring young people have a strong, coordinated voice in decision-making at local, state, and national levels.

• Policy and strategy input – influencing youth-focused initiatives, programs, and services provided by GYS Inc. and partner organisations.

• Leadership development – equipping members with professional skills in advocacy, governance, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement.

As a YDC member, you represent young people across Gippsland. As a member you will get to: • build new skills • speak up and share your ideas • participate in projects and decision-making • grow your confidence and leadership • contribute to positive change in your community
